I’m a deals pro – six must-buy items at Aldi in August and prices start at just $2

ALDI fans rave about the low prices at the food discounter and the enormous savings.
But as consumers continue to look for ways to cut costs across the board during inflation, a shopping expert shared some of his favorite August chain must-haves — and not all are grocery-related.

Matt Granite, who goes by the nickname “The Deal Guy” on YouTube, recently posted a video highlighting some of his picks from Aldi this month.
Here are six of his top finds – some starting at under $2.
1. Neck fans
As much of the country continues to grapple with scorching temperatures, many consumers are considering ways to stay cool efficiently.
Matt said in his video the blistering temperatures have “increased demand for portable neck fans.”

He highlighted one from Crane, which cost $8.99, according to Instacart.
It includes a USB-chargeable system with a battery life of around four hours, LED lighting and is available in a range of bright colors.
2. Above the door hook and basket
This useful gadget caught the eye of The Deal Guy because of its extreme functionality and affordable price.
At $12.99, he said it’s a new product at Aldi and offers a hook for towels or shower products, or could even be very useful in a laundry room.
A similar version from Amazon costs about $20.
He put the one he bought in the bathroom.
3. Cold Brew coffee system
This was another item Matt said he had never seen at Aldi before
Priced at $12.99, the cold brew system is a much cheaper alternative to shelling out money for a cup of coffee at your local Starbucks.
The deals expert said his family makes their coffee at home to save on costs.
4. Cabana Sipper

Matt said he “had a double take” on the cabana sippers he found at Aldi.
That’s because he “couldn’t get his head around” a four-pack complete with straws for just $1.99 — which was about 50 cents apiece.
The same sippers are sold for $18 on the Mercari website.
The sippers are also available in different colors and are reusable.
5. Mini humidifier
Matt also highlighted a mini dehumidifier priced at $9.99.
If you’re struggling with high humidity, putting it in a closet or cloakroom could be a useful tool to suck extra moisture out of the air.
The Easy Home model uses non-toxic, micro-absorbent silica gel technology.
6. Frozen Food
Matt couldn’t resist checking out the frozen section as well and raved about some of the deals he found there.
That included $8.49 prime rib burger patties, which he said his family enjoyed over the summer.
He also highlighted a bacon or sausage breakfast bowl with eggs priced at $1.99 for an on-the-go treat that takes just three minutes to heat up in a microwave.
Maximize your savings at Aldi
He stressed that Aldi’s, like many other retailers like Walmart and Target, are currently overstocked, meaning the chain is heavily reducing some products to make room for new inventory.
As such, he said there are some great deals to be had.
Other ways to maximize your purchases there are:
- Make a list of what you need before you go to avoid unnecessary purchases
- Buy non-perishable items in bulk
- Check Aldi’s circulars. There are two different types: one with the weekly sales and the other with the Aldi finds
- Pay with a cash back rewards credit card or third-party cash back app
- Don’t forget to bring your own luggage to save on fees
However, the chain, which has over 2,100 stores in 38 states, does not offer a member benefits program.
