One deal expert says there are five inexpensive household items worth looking out for at dollar stores that will help make your home decor look more expensive.

According to money-saving author Cynthia Measom, shoppers can find expensive-looking home goods at low dollar store prices.

“Even better than saving tons on everyday household items is finding $1 items that look high-quality but only cost around $1,” Measom wrote in an article on the GoBankingRates website.

“Finds like these make it easy to stock up on craft supplies, buy emergency gifts, or redesign the guest bathroom wall art.”

From picture frames to glassware, Measom offers suggestions for five items you can find in dollar stores that look like you forked a lot of money.

If you’re in the decorative picture frame market, the expert says dollar stores usually have good deals.

Chains like Dollar General offer a variety of frames for as little as $1.50.

But there’s one important thing to note: you’ll likely have to shop in person to take advantage of bargains like this.

Another item that you can buy at the Dollar Store that looks high quality is glassware.

According to another deals expert, the Dollar Store allows shoppers to purchase authentic pilsner glasses or elegant bourbon glasses without breaking the bank.

“You can easily buy four or six of these and pair them with a more expensive crystal carafe to use as your own set or even as a special gift,” said connoisseur Julie Ramhold of the bourbon glasses, which are available at Dollar Tree for $1.25 each are available.

Now, she says, the pilsner glasses available in stores look like they came straight from your favorite bar.

“They’re perfect for enjoying your favorite local craft beer and no one will know how little you had to spend on them,” Ramhold said.

Another great deal can be found in a more temporary household decoration: helium balloons.

The savings experts say dollar stores offer significant savings on helium-filled Mylar balloons compared to the usual party stores.

“If an upcoming party calls for a fancy-looking helium-filled balloon passel but you don’t want to spend more than $50, check out the Dollar Store,” James Crawford, co-founder of DealDrop, told GoBankingRates.

“The choice may be limited, but you can save big.”

There are also more kitchen items you can find on sale, with experts saying that if you’re in the coffee mug market, dollar stores are a great place to check out.

“The first thing that comes to mind when I think of dollar store items that look more expensive is coffee mugs,” Brooke Grasley, founder of Restore, Decor & More, told the website.

“You can find some really great looking coffee mugs at the Dollar Store, and they don’t have to look cheap either.

For more permanent decorative additions, visit stores like Dollar General for small pieces of art to hang on your walls.

“Whether you’re shopping for a small sign for your bathroom or looking for kitchen-themed wall art, it can be worth checking out your local dollar store to see what they have in stock,” Measom says.

Dollar General says you can buy wall signs that look like you’re paying back “several dollars more” than you actually paid for them, according to the expert.

Keep in mind that stores stock items like wall art depending on the season and upcoming holidays.
