The video begins with him (@cardinalecars) saying that one of the scariest parts of learning to drive a stick is climbing a hill that’s on an incline.

The problem is that once you’re in neutral, if your foot isn’t on the brake, you’ll start rolling backwards, which is a common mistake.

He then explained how to prevent this when driving.

First put the car in gear.

Then very slowly take your foot off the clutch and work with the brake.

If you do, the engine would make noise, the expert said.

As soon as you hear this noise you should start giving the car some gas so that you can drive forward.

He advised against doing this on the go, instead saying it’s better to practice first.

A good location would be a parking lot with a small rise, the expert said.

For example, the influencer went to a church parking lot that had a slight incline.

You should also bring a friend or family member who knows how to drive such a car, according to the TikTok.

The idea is to ride on a day when the parking lot is pretty empty to give yourself room for error.

Since you are off the road and close to many cars, you can easily stall or roll backwards without repercussions.

There is room to practice the technique mentioned in the TikTok until it becomes second nature and a little less scary.

“Just ease off the clutch a little and boom, you’re progressing,” he said.

“Then just give it some gas.”

The TikToker said the key is to release the clutch and then step on the gas to avoid the error
