In a TikTok video, he revealed that car salespeople aren’t as keen on selling their products as people might think.

Shattuck said, “The dealer doesn’t want to sell it as badly as you want to buy it.”

However, the TikToker offered three helpful pieces of advice for people looking to close a car deal.

Shattuck states that timing can be key, and later in the month can lead to good deals.

He said: “Go at the end of the month.

“You might find a seller who’s motivated to get that bonus and leave when they’re desperate.”

He adds that research can help persuade retailers to lower their prices.

Shattuck said, “Give them something that shows them why they should change the price.

“Whether that’s supporting data, that’s other vehicles.

“Any inquiries you may have conducted.”

His main advice was to be patient.

He said, “Be patient. One of the most powerful things you can do is walk away.”

TikTokers rushed to the comments to share their thoughts on this advice.

One person said: “The wait is on your side. One of the few advantages you have.”

Another person said: “Indeed. Unless you absolutely need the vehicle today, dump your ego and EXIT the dealership if you don’t like the terms and conditions. Very easily.”

Dealerskip states that its goal is to help people become “car buying experts,” and they even offer car-dealing consultations.

Shattuck said, “Our goal is to give you the confidence to walk into the dealership and know when it’s time to walk away.”
