SHOPPING experts have revealed the items to spend your last $20 on at the Dollar Store.
The list of shopping influencers’ items also includes a product to leave behind.
Deal News’ Julie Ramhold told Yahoo that branded candy should be bought at dollar stores.
“In fact, Dollar Tree has things I can’t find anywhere else, like little bags of Mr. Goodbar Minis, Werther’s Original Cocoa Cream Fudges, Butterfinger Bites, different types of Haribo candies other than standard gummies, other flavors from Sour Patch Kids, and more Swedish fish varieties than I knew existed,” she said.
$1 pregnancy test
“It may sound strange, but there’s no cheaper way to buy a swab-style pregnancy test,” said shopping expert Shannon Maverick.
Studies show that the tests are accurate.
You may be able to buy them in bulk for even cheaper on Amazon.
Clay pots, glass marbles, and dishes are commonly purchased at dollar stores.
Trae Bodge, another shopping expert, said she always checks for damage before checking out.
Ramhold said she could get glassware at Dollar Tree for $1.25 a piece.
“I live in a one bedroom apartment with very limited storage space so I don’t have to buy a whole pair of glasses — in fact most of the time I only need two so my husband and I can have one each.” She said.
“I really love that I can buy different types like vintage glasses, dessert shot glasses, Irish coffee mugs, daiquiri glasses, margarita glasses and more.”
Bodge said dollar stores are her go-to place for children’s projects.
“If my daughter has a school project coming up, I’ll rush to the dollar store for poster board or foam core,” Bodge said.
“I also always buy extra to have on hand in case we need signage for a flea market or other event.
“Envelopes, notepads, and paperclips are also good buys, but I won’t buy scissors or pens from the dollar store as they tend to be of poor quality.”
Bodge also frequently picks up duct tape, she said.
“Packing tape, masking tape, and scotch tape are usually a good deal, so I’d buy duct tape.
“However, I always check the recordings of the rolls before purchasing, as I have sometimes found that the rolls contain less tape than rolls in a large department store, office supply store, or wholesale warehouse.”
The final piece of advice focused on holiday items.
“A dollar store is the cheapest place to save on holiday items like holiday decorations, Christmas gifts, or goodie bags with party supplies for your kids to give out at school on special days,” Ramhold said.
However, one expert said they wouldn’t buy certain types of cleaning products at a dollar store.
“When I have a tough cleaning project, powder cleaning products and steel wool cleaning pads are a reliable Dollar Store buy,” Bodge said.
“However, I avoid liquid cleaners as they become less effective over time.”
