Illinois released powerful testimonials in its ‘On the Fence’ campaign to encourage vaccinations

CHICAGO – As Illinois sees a surge in COVID-19 infections caused by the Omicron variant, the state kicked off a new vaccine awareness campaign in an attempt to explain the power of vaccines. COVID.
The ‘On the Fence’ campaign tells 18 meaningful stories from Illinois residents who were initially hesitant about getting vaccinated but are now fully vaccinated.
Shannon, a nurse from Quincy said in one of the videos: “It’s true that I didn’t die, but it completely took my life. She said she was unable to work for 14 months after contracting the virus. You can watch her video here.
The campaign will be rolled out in the coming months and is aimed at people who are afraid of vaccinations.
The campaign will come in a variety of formats and will reach all corners of the state and in both English and Spanish.
“Safe and effective vaccines have been in use for over a year now, longer if you include clinical trials and they have a good safety and efficacy record. People receiving the COVID-19 vaccine are experiencing significant reductions in hospitalization and mortality,” said IDPH Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike.
