Ilia Topuria recently discussed his upcoming bout, featherweight title image and more in an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda MMA.
Topuria, 24 years old, is considered by many to be one of the brightest MMA prospects coming out of Georgia right now. He currently holds an 11-0 professional record, with knockout wins over Damon Jackson and Ryan Hall, establishing him as one of the viewers ahead of 2022.
The next Topuria will enter the octagon this weekend at UFC 270 when he takes on Charles Jourdain. He was originally scheduled to face Movsar Evloev, but the Russian was dropped from the competition due to an undisclosed matter.
During an interaction with Sportskeeda MMA’s James Lynch, Topuria shared her thoughts on fellow Georgian Giga Chikadze’s recent loss to Calvin Kattar.
“Yes, I watched the match yesterday. Both did well, it was a great fight. Both show big hearts and it was a great fight. I’m a bit sad, I want Giga to win, but sometimes things like this happen, you know. ”

Charles Jourdain might not be a favorite for some but he’s definitely an underdog in this competition. Topuria has a wide range of skills that he has shown so far in his UFC career. However, the same is true for Jourdain, who is riding on a small wave after defeating Andre Ewell in December.
‘El Matador’ has arrived in California for fight week as the UFC gears up for its first official pay-per-view bout of the year.
The main event will see Francis Ngannou defense UFC heavyweight belt against interim champion Ciryl Gane. Topuria versus Jourdain is set to go down with prelims.
