I work in a call center – Here’s what actually happens when we put you on hold… it’s not what you think

EVERYONE knows that it can take forever to reach a call center agent – but many don’t understand why.
But an employee has now revealed that while you wait patiently on hold, employees on the other end of the line may be performing all sorts of tasks.

Call center worker Ellena Walker took to TikTok for a behind-the-scenes look and responded to why you might have to sit on the line “so long.”
The clip, which has garnered a whopping 230,000 views, shows Ellena’s colleague waiting for her toenail polish to dry while a customer waits on hold.
Captioning the caption, Ellena wrote, “If you’ve ever wondered why you’re on hold for so long, let’s apply a top coat.”
Instead of appearing busy, the hilarious clip shows the call center worker sitting with her foot under a UV lamp.
While many aren’t pleased to find out they’re on hold for no real reason, the comments section suggests it’s a common habit.
“As someone who has worked in a couple of call centers… 1000%,” confirms one user.
Another commented, “We used to put them on hold and sit on the balcony to catch 5 minutes.”
Other call center reps have revealed what else they’re up to – some even admitting to stopping by at a drive-through while you’re on the phone.
One person confessed, “I used to love putting customers on hold so I could eat my dinner.”
“I remember telling a customer to wait while I added my Chinese order to the list,” said another.
And alongside her toenail paintings, Ellena said she and her colleague also “put them on hold earlier and drove through Maccies.”
TIKTOK REVELATION
Another TikTok user gave viewers a glimpse of her own work woes – as people keep accusing her of dressing improperly.
However, Tee Dawood explained that this is only because her breasts are large and says her clothes are normal and her curves just make it look more revealing.
TikTok users were also stunned to discover Samsung phones have a hidden loophole in a clip that has been liked nearly a million times.
A phone expert who runs the TikTok page @gadgetsinnepall showed users that it’s possible to find old deleted messages on Samsung devices thanks to a cheeky hidden feature.
