A COSTCO employee revealed what the asterisks on the price tags mean to buyers.

The unnamed worker said the labeling could mean consumers want to stock up on the product while they still can.

That’s because the asterisk means the location you’re in doesn’t plan to backorder the item, the employee told Readers Digest.

And while that means the product has been discontinued, it also means it’s likely to be available at the lowest possible price.

Even longtime Costco buyers may be missing out on all of the money-saving perks and benefits their membership gives them access to.

The Sun has already listed four ways to save money at the store.

BudgetBroJoe, a TikTok influencer who shares personal finance tips on social media, also shared the inside scoop on secret Costco prices.

He said if a price ends at $0.99, it’s a regular priced item.

If there’s a price tag with an asterisk and a discount, he said that when in doubt, you can still buy it and return it if you don’t like it.

Price tags with an asterisk but ending in $0.97 mean there was a discount.

Also, the asterisk means it’s probably out of stock next time you come back.

Other odd prices like $0.49, $0.79 or $0.89 usually mean that the product is regular priced goods.

Prices ending in $0.88 or $0.00 usually mean that the manager has discounted regular goods to clear inventory quickly.

The best bargains at Costco are usually in the back of the store, Lifehacker added.
