But he now plays for “Peanuts” after sensationally claiming he was “treated like a parasite” at another former club.

Radja Nainggolan, 34, was once a top European midfielder for club and country.

The Belgian made his name with stunning performances for Cagliari and Roma.

In 2021 he won the Italian league with Inter Milan.

Nainggolan, who also had a second loan spell at Cagliari, then returned to his homeland with Antwerp.

But he left the company in December after a series of controversies.

Nainggolan initially lost his driver’s license for drunk driving and speeding ONE week into his career in Antwerp.

And in October, he was banned indefinitely for smoking an e-cigarette on the bench.

He was eventually forced to work with the youth squad before leaving by mutual consent.

Nainggolan has now lashed out at Antwerp by sensationally claiming he was treated like a “piece of shit” after falling out with club president Paul Gheysens.

And after joining Italian minnows SPAL in January, he claims he’s happier playing for Peanuts now.

Nainggolan told the Antwerp Gazette via Marca: “In Antwerp they treated me like a parasite like I was a piece of shit.

“They took Marc Overmars as sporting director to try and get me back in the main team but nobody dared to go against the president.

“I did my best in the B team, I supported the youngest… I’ve been to a lot of clubs and they’ve never treated me like that, I couldn’t even get in through the main door of the training centre.

“My daughters were the main reason I returned to Belgium. Otherwise I could only be with them on vacation and wanted to stay in Antwerp.

“Even losing a lot of money, as was the case, but that wasn’t a problem.

“But the President even forced me to leave the country and I will never forgive him for that. At SPAL I play in exchange for ‘Peanuts’ but gladly, I enjoy…”.

At the time of Nainggolan’s release, Antwerp boss Gheysens said: “He couldn’t play here anymore. That was impossible in this group.

“It doesn’t mean we’re going to split in a fight. We settled everything by mutual agreement.

“You have players like Modric who are still fit at 36 and you have players who are no longer doing well at 30. Radja is one of them.

“I think his story is written despite his talent. Disciplinarily, he is no longer able to live as a top athlete.”
