His winning ticket was purchased at 477 Food at 477 Lenox Ave. bought in Manhattan.

Lottery winners have two options for getting their money: a lump sum or an annuity payment.

The lump sum payment gives players instant cash, but they end up missing out on huge amounts of cash.

Rodney elected to pay out $30,612 in 20 annual payments, after required withholdings were deducted.

The Strike It Rich! The game costs $5 and players have a chance to win the top prize of $1 million.

Playing is easy: just start scratching. If any of your numbers match any of the winning numbers, you win the displayed prize.

When players see a “COINS” icon, they automatically win the displayed prize.

Also, if players uncover a “10X” symbol, it means they win 10 times the displayed prize.

Finally, if any of the numbers match any of the Strike-it-Rich numbers, players instantly win all 12 prizes.

Prizes start at $5 and go all the way up to the $1 million jackpot.

Claim your price

Winning tickets expire one year from the date of drawing. So be sure to check your ticket and claim your prize immediately if you win.

Depending on the size of your win, the way you claim it will change.

In order to get your money, all winners must present the original ticket.

Experts also recommend signing the back of your winning ticket and keeping it in a safe place.

If your prize is up to $600, here are your options:

  • Claim it at any licensed New York Lottery retail location
  • Make an appointment at one of the lottery customer service centers
  • Submit it to the lottery

Those priced at $601 or more have the following options:

  • Make an appointment and claim your prize at one of the lottery customer service centers. An appointment is required to claim the prize.
  • Redeem at a local Sweepstakes Center. No appointment is required to claim the prize.
  • Submit it to the lottery

To redeem a prize, you must bring your winning ticket, a completed claim form, valid government-issued ID, and a valid Social Security number or FEIN.
