He won La Liga four times between 2008 and 2011 and the Champions League twice in 2009 and 2011.

He then moved to Ajax for a season where he won the Eredivisie before a permanent move to Stoke followed.

Most recently, the 32-year-old played for Japanese club Vissel Kobe, where he was sacked in December.

Since then, said man, Bojan Krkic, has been pursuing his other sporting love – gravel cycling.

He revealed it was love at first sight when it came to the sport and he loves hitting the trail whenever he can.

Bojan is also part of a new cycling brand called Guava, launched in Barcelona, with former teammate Andres Iniesta also being part of the project, according to AS.

Speaking of the new venture, Bojan said: “I think if I go into this project it will stay and I will continue to be associated with cycling. It’s a good way to combine sports and social activities.

“I could soon take part in some races. I will prepare for it.

I’ve always liked the bike, also as a means of transportation, but I’ve loved gravel for about five years. Whenever I can, I go out to do my routes.

“In football, it also serves as training because since it has no physical effects, you can cover many kilometers without damaging the body.”
