She started Organized by Kat in 2020 and now makes £40 an hour helping clients have tidy homes after being spurred on by The Home Edit.

Speaking to Fabulous, she said: “As a mother of two young children, I can totally understand how busy life can be with work, family and friends to juggle.

“I firmly believe that your home should be a place of comfort and happiness, not a source of stress.”

Kat watched Clea Shearer and The Home Edit’s Joanna Teplin tackle homes of the likes of Reece Witherspoon and Khloe Kardashian after taking the job, but said it made her “even more excited” about what she was doing does.

She added: “I think the Home Edit show is such a happy show to watch. All colors ok just make me happy.

“It would be great to work in some of the spaces that they have had the opportunity to work in.”

Kat previously worked in financial services recruitment but accepted layoff to start her business.

She said: “I’ve never been self-employed so it was a big step.

“I spent about four months in the pre-launch planning phase. I put together a very simple business plan using templates I found online.

“Originally, before starting, I did a lot in my own home and for friends and family.

“Then I branched out and offered my services to some school moms at a discounted rate. “It really helped build my portfolio of photos.

“Due to Covid, it took me eight months to have my first full-paying organizational client.”

She’s now built her client base and says Instagram is the best way to find new customers.

She said: “I offer a bespoke organization service in person (across Essex, Kent, Hertz and London) and virtually (worldwide).

“My services are offered in a professional and impartial manner, working closely with my clients to help them edit, declutter and organize.

“My style is simple, stylish and above all functional.

“First everything has to go, when I take it out I check expiry dates, duplicate goods, broken goods, etc. and then everything goes into a similar pile, i.e. in a kitchen pantry; Noodles and rice are placed in one pile, herbs in another, etc.

“Then the key to organization lies in the right storage products that help maintain the systems.

“The final key to staying organized is to tag EVERYTHING!

“If you give everything in your house a home and label it, then there’s a higher chance that the item will go back to its home.”

Their normal hourly rate for personal organization is £40 per hour and their reset package for existing clients is £35 per hour.

She even has some celebrity fans and recently remodeled Lauren Goodger’s baby room to help her get organized for the arrival of her next baby.

Kat added: “I’m actually returning this week to continue to help her in this area.

“The majority of my clients are women who either have their own businesses or have busy families to take care of and who have the time to get organized.”

She said the top five storage items she would recommend homeowners are a lazy susan, expandable drawer dividers, design and idesign see-through storage bins, a label machine (e.g. Dymo) and wall-mounted storage (e.g. Elfa System). ).

Kat said her husband and their two children, aged five and seven, are fully supportive of their business but said having a proper home with children all the time is difficult.

She said: “As a parent, I think choosing your fights is key, so I try not to bother the kids too much about their mess!

“My kids are super proud of Mom and when I recently got a job at their school they couldn’t wait to tell their friends that Mom works at the school and they knew she was an ‘organizer’.

“I don’t think I realized how emotionally difficult it would be to have my own business, but I’m so passionate about organizing and I enjoy it so much that I can’t imagine doing anything else. “

The new season of The Home Edit will premiere on April 1, 2022 and will feature appearances from Drew Barrymore, Chris Pratt, Katherine Schwarzenegger and Winnie Harlow.
