I was chopped in half with the forklift

A man cut in two in a horror forklift accident has been accused of faking his injuries in an “elaborate scam”.

Loren Schauers was 18 when he went off a bridge at a construction site, fell 50 feet and was pinned under the four-ton vehicle on the ground.

His right arm was severed and everything from his pelvis down was completely crushed.

His girlfriend Sabia Reiche, then 19, said goodbye to him six times when doctors warned he wouldn’t make it.

And his family has been asked to make the agonizing decision of whether surgeons should cut him in half.

But in a new twist, Loren says conspiracy theorists have accused him of using the couple’s GoFundMe page to be a scam, reports the Daily Star.

“I saw a couple of comments saying this is a pretty sophisticated scam,” Loren said.

Sabia revealed that an entire social media thread had been created to expose the couple as cheating.

“There are people out there who think that we’re using CGI to make Loren’s limbs disappear and that it’s all a big scam,” she said.

“When we first went viral there was something like a subreddit page that was just about this is a scam and we lie about it and we edit to make his body go away and these are simply crazy.

“The conspiracies that some people come up with, but we obviously just laughed at it and ignored it because we’re not going to let that get to us, but like it’s just crazy.”

To silence the trolls, Loren even propped himself up, hanging by one hand to expose the underside of his torso during the live stream.

After the accident, a drastic hemicorperectomy, amputating everything below the waist, was the only way to save his life, but his mother and sister didn’t know if Loren would rather die.

She said the doctors agreed to wake Loren and he knew immediately something terrible had happened.

Surgeons then asked if he wanted the amputation, warning: “You will lose the lower half of your body or die in the operation.”

Sabia said: “From that moment I knew he wasn’t going anywhere.

“He looked them straight in the eye and told them he didn’t care if he was just a head on a plate, they would do the surgery and they would keep him alive.

“It really gave us a lot of hope that he was a fighter, but we already knew that because he was alive.”

Loren later said, “It wasn’t a hard decision to have half of my body amputated — it was basically a live or die decision.”

Two and a half years on Sabia, now 23, and Loren, 21, are married and living in Great Falls, Montana, USA.

They’ve garnered legions of fans who share details of their lives together on YouTube.

She has to do many daily chores for Loren, including changing his colostomy bags and taking a shower.

Sabia raises money for a robotic arm to improve Loren’s mobility.

But despite the life together they’ve carved out, they still get harassed by asking how they have sex.
