PAUL IFILL revealed he was dropped for the Sheffield derby after manager Neil Warnock’s wife had a DREAM of it.
The 42-year-old forward played under Warnock at the Yorkshire Club from 2005 to 2007.
And he explained how he was eliminated for the big Sheffield derby around Wednesday thanks to Sharon Warnock.
He tweeted: “He’s been telling people about his wife’s dreams for years!
“He dumped me once because of her dream the night before the Sheffield derby. He replaced me with Alan Quinn who scored the only goal! Insanity.”
Incredibly, the move resulted in a win, with Ifill’s replacement scoring the winning goal.
Amazingly, according to Darren Ambrose, this isn’t the only time this has happened.
Warnock’s wife once dreamed of a right-back scoring the winning goal in one of her husband’s FA Cup games – and her premonition came true.
Before Crystal Palace’s fourth-round replay against Wolves in 2010, Warnock’s wife Sharon had a vivid dream that the tie would be decided by a full-back.
An ever-trusting husband, Warnock believed in Sharon’s dream and opted to place then-second-choice right-back Danny Butterfield at the helm.

Amazingly, Sharon’s premonition came true when Butterfield scored the perfect hat-trick – much to the amazement of ex-Palace midfielder Ambrose.
At a performance on talkSPORTrecalled the retired midfielder: “We drew away and play them at home.
“So we came in and we all sat down and he said, ‘Right, my wife Sharon, she had a dream last night.’
“And nobody really laughed because he was like that. And he said: ‘She dreamed that my right-back would score the winning goal today’.
“And we said, ‘Okay.’ “So Danny Butterfield, you play up front.”
“And he wasn’t even that [first-choice] Right back at the time, he was a fringe player because Clyney was playing right back at the time – Nathaniel Clyne.
“We all started laughing then and he said, ‘No, I’m serious.’
“And I was standing in the middle with him, and even then I was looking over at the bench like I’m like, ‘Gaffa, is this a joke?
“And I think about 12 minutes later he had a perfect hat-trick – Danny Butterfield. And we won the game 3-1.”
Co-hosts Gabriel Agbonlahor and Alan Brazil were impressed by the Warnock story, which prompted several disgraced players to frequently ask the retired manager about Sharon’s dreams.
Ambrose continued: “Left, right, header – won the game 3-1.
“And honestly, every team chat we came from after all the fringe players were like, ‘Gaffa, did Sharon have a dream last night? am i on the team Will I score?
“The guy was crazy, he’s from the old school.”
