I turned a boring mobile home into a luxury camping van

A COUPLE was frustrated to have to cut their travel plans short so they decided to take control of their adventure and buy a van.
Olivia Dickets and Adam Healy bought a second hand mobile home for £5,000 in January 2021.
Since then, they have worked hard to transform the dingy lorry into a beautiful mobile home, spending £10,000 on the works.
The camper van now has a kitchen area, double bed and impressive sliding windows.
Olivia, 24, said: “We wanted the van so we could move around freely.
“There’s nothing like waking up next to a beautiful beach or mountain range and being the first to see the view that morning while drinking a cup of coffee while cuddling in bed.”
The couple was careful with their budget to make sure it could cover the entire project.
Olivia, from West Yorkshire, said: “Overall, we probably spent £10,000 on everything, vans, insulation, windows, vents and trim.
“We don’t have to save much because between the two of us, £5,000 each is not a lot. But it feels like it eats away from our wages now and especially when working and not having a job. .
“We’re pretty reasonable about saving anyway. We were backpacking 16 months ago so we know how to be serious with our money if we have to.”
The couple followed “van life” influencers online for tips and tricks to get the refurbishment done.
Olivia said: “Before buying the truck, we watched a lot of YouTube videos of ordinary people who didn’t necessarily have experience or skills, but managed to turn a car into a car. Loaded into splendid houses on wheels.
“We looked at various step-by-step tutorials, getting inspired, but adding our own style and requirements to the build.
“I think the end result exceeded our own expectations of what we thought we could do.
“I felt proud of us. The first weeks, I didn’t even know how to use a screwdriver and in the end, I built shelves and cabinets.”
In other news, People never believe what’s inside our pickup truck, we spent months doing it. & it even has a CINEMA at home.
Meanwhile, I’ve turned a dilapidated caravan at the end of the garden into a forest paradise, like going on vacation.
Also, I’ve saved hundreds after converting an old worn out IKEA cabinet into a chic new one for just £15.
