I tried two Starbucks breakfast sandwiches – they were delicious, but one was definitely not worth the money

YOU know the old adage – breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

However, one foodie revealed in a TikTok video that while a breakfast sandwich can be just the thing to start the day off right, not all of them are worth buying.

The restaurant critic gave both sandwiches a 10

He calls himself Mr.ChimeTime and describes himself as “a food critic who rates restaurants around the world”.

He has 286,000 followers.

In one of his posts, he conducted a Starbucks taste test, sampling just two of the different flavors the Java giant offers.

After reviewing his choices, he rated them on a scale of one to ten.

While one received a solid thumbs up, the other left a lot to be desired, according to the Food Review expert.

Here are the sandwiches he tried.

1. Sandwich with bacon, gouda and egg

The restaurant critic praised the freshness of the eggs and bacon in the hot breakfast treat, saying it was “super cheesy,” but also adding that he wished the bread wasn’t so hard.

“Is this sandwich good?” he wondered before answering.

Then he said, “It’s okay. Is it worth 5 dollars? Hell no.”

Of course, the price varies depending on where you live in the country.

In some areas it costs less than $5.

However, on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York, it costs $5.45.

McDonald’s sells a similar bacon-egg-cheese cookie for under $4, according to Fast Food Menu Prices.

And Costco fans, according to Eat This, Not That, rave about the Grace Gourmet Bacon, Gouda & Egg Sandwich, saying it looks and sounds a lot like Starbucks!

Although the price was a little high for his taste, Mr.ChimeTime gave the coffee chain’s sandwich a 7.7 out of 10.

2. Impossible breakfast sandwich

This plant-based sandwich consists of Impossible Food’s Sausage.

That’s in addition to a plant-based egg patty and vegan cheese, served on top of a whole wheat toasted English muffin.

Mr.ChimeTime said the plant-based meat smelled like sausage while also being super cheesy.

Also, he liked the soft bread it came on.

Though it costs over $6 in some parts of the country, he said, “If you’ve never eaten this sandwich, you should definitely try it.”

He gave it a solid 8.8 out of 10.

At McDonald’s, a Sausage McMuffin with Egg costs about $3.

At Dunkin’, a similar variety with turkey sausage costs about $3.50.

Mr.ChimeTime’s post received more than 260,000 views and more than 100 comments.

Some encouraged him to try other foods for future review.

One said: “Okay, next time try double smoked bacon, cheddar and egg!

Another weighed in with their own Go-To’s. “My favorite is the spinach feta wrap and the egg bites.”

Another was less flattering about the ingredients used, saying, “The bacon and egg aren’t fresh.”

And for those of us on a budget, a follower might just have hit the right note. “The only thing cheap at Starbucks is the free water.”
