I started wearing clothes that made me feel empowered, but my mother-in-law-to-be said I looked like a prostitute

A WOMAN has revealed that her mother-in-law described her fashion choices as those of a “prostitute”.
A user, who can be found under the name u/Anxiety_bunni in Reddit’s AITA (Bin I the A**hole) section, shared the rather awkward encounter with her partner’s mother.

According to the post, Anxiety Bunni has always suffered from low self-esteem and body issues.
Seeing his wife-to-be struggling to love her looks, the fiancé suggested exploring fashion and began wearing things that made his bride feel “confident and confident.”
However, problems began to surface when she asked his “very Christian” mother to look for wedding dresses together – an offer the mother-in-law declined, warning that he would buy “something modest”.
“I assured her I’d take that into account, but she obviously didn’t think I was taking her seriously.
“She went behind my back to tell my partner that I had dressed inappropriately on several occasions, that they were too embarrassed to look at me, that I looked like a prostitute and that he should monitor and control my clothing choices more. ”
For context, she explained that her “inappropriate” outfits included strapless tops, long black boots, high heels, and knee-length skirts.
“I ended up confronting her when he showed me her messages, trying to be polite and understanding her beliefs and views, but that I would not be willing to choose a wedding dress based entirely on her views.”
For Anxiety Bunni, it’s always been “my body, my choice” — a view her fiancé also endorsed.
It seems that conversation didn’t go too well, however, as the mother-in-law reiterated her opinion, even going so far as to claim that her clothing choices made the rest “uncomfortable.”
“She didn’t apologize for the pain she caused and was angry with my partner for sharing her messages about me,” the Redditor added, saying she decided to be with her “much more supportive “ to shop. ‘Mummy.

Someone else agreed, urging Anxiety Bunni to reflect on the current relationship: “Decide if you want to marry into this family [sic]. This lady will end up being your enemy.”

“It’s your wedding!” reminded one reader.
‘If you just wanted to wear a corset and miniskirt, tutu, bunny onesie, bikini, burqa, or space suit, or go to a nudist resort for the ceremony, no one has a say in what you wear but you.’ ‘
