I sell luxury cars to Premier League footballers via WhatsApp

CAR SALESMAN Richard Clark is the first point of contact for Premier League footballers including England stars Aaron Ramsdale and Kalvin Phillips.

Since starting his business, Premier Sports Solutions in 2005, he has sold thousands of cars from his Bournemouth showroom.

However, many clients prefer to send their inquiries on WhatsApp and Instagram – rather than visit 42-year-old Clark in his office.

From the popular £250,000 Lamborghini Urus to the £180,000 Mercedes G63 AMG, he is able to quickly meet your needs with high-end engines.

Premier Sports Solutions is by far the largest independent outfitter in the country.

“It’s very simple. Footballers come to us, often after a teammate has recommended us, tell us what they want on WhatsApp and we deliver the car,” revealed Clark.

“Most don’t really want to come into the showroom, they’re not really interested, they just want what they want and on their ride.

“But we now have a very strong online presence with our Instagram profile giving people an idea of what cars we can source.

“We also keep a close eye on the market, what people want and follow the trends.”

SunSport previously revealed how Clark gained the trust of the football world when he was asked by Jamie Redknapp to help him find a car.

“I fell in love with cars after coming back from working overseas in the football industry and being approached by a major car dealership,” Clark said.

“They knew I knew some footballers and they asked me if I could sell them cars.

“I was and still am good friends with Jamie’s brother Mark, so I’ve been friends with the Redknapps for years.

“At the time, Jamie wanted a Bentley, so I went in and sold him one.

“Then I sold a car to Les Ferdinand and Tim Sherwood.”

Respect is key

Clark believes the secret to his success is treating footballers with respect, not ripping them off and making sure they get the best service.

“We don’t operate on massive margins and we treat everyone equally,” Clark explained.

“We try to give the footballers the best possible service, right down to their door and they all come back.

“We’ve been fortunate to have a celebrity market since then and we’ve grown significantly.

“Anyone who is young, wealthy, a celebrity or a footballer – they come to us.”

Whether buying or financing, Clark wants to make the best offer to its customers.

He will also resell them at their face value, ignoring that for his own financial gain he is taking money off the top to give the customer the maximum return on his car.

Clark said: “The majority use finance of some kind to buy their cars, but there are some that just pay them directly.

“When the guys are done with their cars, we will sell them if they want us too, not just bid.

“In this way they can switch their cars easily and keep the process of ‘buying a car’ very simple for them with the best car buying deal and getting the maximum possible return on the parts swap.

“That makes the customer happy.”

best seller

In the 17 years that Clark has been in business, he has seen many expensive engines evicted from his property.

But there are two big sellers in the football community gracing training grounds across the UK.

“The greatest car for footballers was without a doubt the Lamborghini Urus,” he said.

“We sold 25 in the last year alone.

“G Wagons were also massive news and sold a similar amount of them last year as well.”

However, Clark has noticed a trend among conscientious footballers who are more environmentally conscious.

“We’ve done a great job lately with the Porsche Taycan and seen a massive shift towards electric cars among footballers,” he said.

“Many of them would potentially consider the cost of petrol and many living in big cities like London don’t have to pay a congestion charge.

“So I definitely think the switch is certainly going to electric now.

“Footballers are a lot more enthusiastic than people give them credit for and I think they care about the environment.”

And for the next big thing?

“Without a doubt, the new Range Rovers. There’s a new Vogue and a brand new Sport coming too,” Clark predicted.

“I expect these to be our biggest sellers in the near future.”
