A WOMEN was left behind after her sister announced that she was expecting a baby without her permission.
In a Reddit post, the 26-year-old claimed she physically couldn’t cope with the stress of telling her family.
“I’m pregnant with my boyfriend’s child. We’re not married yet, but we’ll probably get married after the baby is born,” she began.
“My parents are very judgmental about giving birth out of wedlock. It made me really nervous when I told them I was pregnant and unmarried.
“On top of that, my family has a history of infertile children.
“Besides being really worried about my baby’s survival, having them attack me would only add to my stress.
“With those two factors in mind, I decided not to tell my parents and three siblings that I was pregnant.
“They live on the other side of the country and our only interaction is by phone or by zoom, so it’s not hard to hide the pregnancy.”
“If the baby was alive and well, I would have told them. If not, I might not have told them,” she wrote.
“In another convoluted story, my sister ended up visiting due to a flight delay, so she came to me by surprise.
“She saw that I was clearly pregnant and panicked.
“She called me a liar and kept calling my parents to tell them I was pregnant.
“They all told me I was a big bad guy and there was no justification for my actions.
“As I expected, my parents also lectured me about giving birth out of wedlock and how I should abstain from sex in marriage and this pregnancy is a punishment.
“On top of that, they were upset, so I hid them from their grandchildren, causing them pain.
“I cried the whole time and tried to hang up but they kept calling me.
“The whole situation was terrible, and I felt like a hole.”
After she poured her heart out, many people took to the comments section to wonder exactly why her family was upset: was it because she was pregnant while unmarried or because she kept it a secret. this?
One person wrote: “They are just using random justifications for their hate.
“Getting pregnant is a punishment and they either want nothing to do with you and the baby, or they’re so excited to see their grandchild.
“You can have it either way.”
Others suggested that she pay more attention to her health.
“For your own personal well-being, please consider keeping it low or not communicating with them,” one second said.
