In the video, Taya, @so.chantell on TikTok, donates plasma. The video currently has over 1.4 million views.
The text in the video reads: “Pay my nails, toes and eyelashes monthly when I donate plasma.”
In the caption, she wrote: “That can get you a twice-weekly plasma donation and then some. #BioLife #DonatePlasma #HelpSaveLives.”
The comments were quickly flooded with comments from people who benefit from plasma donations.

One user wrote: “I wouldn’t be here without people like you, I have sickle cell anemia and need a lot of blood transfusions.:
Another said: “Thanks for the donation, it has always helped my father and many other people.”
Some commenters said Taya isn’t actually “donating” the plasma as she gets paid to do it.
Many have had similar stories of donating plasma to pay rent or for a medical emergency.
Liz Gramlich shared a similar story, saying she donates plasma twice a week to help pay for her monthly trips to Disney World.
Morose said she makes about $700 a month from plasma, and each session lasts about an hour.
“It changes every month, but mine is usually $40 the first time a week, then $100 a second,” she said.

Both videos include comments from people who have experienced negative side effects from overdonating.
One user said the donations ruined his immune system, while another lost his teeth. Many said they tried to donate but fainted during the process, which can take over an hour.
