‘I hated it!’ – Thierry Henry says Mbappe has to put the team first as he embarks on a difficult period at Barcelona

ARSENAL legend Thierry Henry has advised Paris Saint-Germain wanton star Kylian Mbappe to put the team first amid their ongoing exit drama.

This comes amid claims that 23-year-old Mbappe is “fed up” and wants to leave PSG as soon as possible as the relationship between him and the club is “completely broken”.

The forward is said to feel “betrayed” after a series of “unfulfillable” promises the Parisians allegedly made him, while rumors suggest he has also fallen out with team-mate Neymar.

Among the promises the France international felt broken was that the French champions would sign a number 9 which would allow him to play more freely on the wings.

However, PSG were unable to sign another centre-forward and coach Christophe Galtier prefers to play around Mbappe with Neymar and Lionel Messi.

Henry, 45, insists his fellow Frenchman should prioritize the club’s interests and used his experience at Barcelona to prove it.

The legendary striker was forced by then-coach Pep Guardiola to play high and wide down the left flank.

The Arsenal and France record goalscorer insists he “hated” his position but ultimately did it for the good of the team.

Henry tells CBS Sports Golazo: “We know he doesn’t like it [the position Mbappe is playing in].

“No one likes being exposed to something they are not good at. They just don’t like it.

“But there is something that is bigger than all the others [and that] is the club. But have they made him feel like the club is the most important thing?

“Or did they make him feel like he was more important than the club?

“And I think at one point, for me I’ll use my own stories, I didn’t like playing high and wide at Barcelona. I hated it.

“But I had to do it for the team. I didn’t like it after 100 caps and I don’t know how many goals… I had to go and play on the left flank.

“I didn’t hear anyone say, ‘Oh, what a nice touch to play on the left’.

“But at one point I always reminded myself that there is only one rule, the boss asks you to do something that you do for the good of the team.

“And your team wins, if your team lost, I would have understood.”
