I had breakfast with America’s most “native” family, the Whittakers, who speak grunts

A FILMAKER has released an update on the Whittaker family, which he has been documenting for several years as part of his project, America’s Most Inbred Family.
Two years after releasing his first video, Mark Laita released a new video, “Breakfast With the Whittakers,” which shows a much more positive perspective on the West Virginia clan.

The family communicates primarily through grunts and phrases, which they all understand but may sound incomprehensible to an outsider.
As The US Sun previously reported, the family lived in dire conditions, with flies reportedly coming out of their freezer and their bathroom covered in brown dirt.
The house looked cleaner in the latest video and the residents seemed happier and more alive.
The family sat on the porch with Laita and enjoyed her breakfast of pancakes and eggs.

Laita also showed off the surrounding estate, which included beautiful forests and streams interwoven with rugged country lanes.
Viewers have noticed the improvement in the Whittaker family’s mood and expressed their delight in the comments on the latest video.
One viewer wrote: “Something really stands out from the first video so far. They all have a sparkle in their eyes that they didn’t have in the first video. You all have a smile now.”
Another commented, “They’ve really gotten a lot better since your first visit with them.”
Laita’s first visit to the Whittaker residence was a challenging experience as he described it as “the craziest thing” he’s ever seen.
Laita explained in an interview with the Koncrete podcast: “It was out of control. There are these people walking around and their eyes are going in different directions and they are barking at us. I even saw a man run away and his pants would fall down around his ankles.”
Despite the difficulties, Laita seems to have had a noticeable impact on the Whittakers’ lives.
The Whittakers include siblings Ray and Lorraine, an unnamed sister and cousin, and Timmy.
As Laita herself observed, “I would wager that inbreeding was at least partially responsible for the mental and physical abnormalities observed in Lorraine, Freddie, Ray and Timmy.”
They also had a brother named Freddie who reportedly died of a heart attack.
According to ThoughtCo, inbreeding can cause defects such as “decreased fertility, reduced birth rates, higher infant and child mortality, and smaller adult height.”
It can also lead to “increased risk of cardiovascular disease, increased facial asymmetry, and increased risk of genetic disorders.”
