Bellingham was asked by a reporter who he thought was the first teenager to score in the first three matches of the Champions League.

He replied: “English teenager or any teenager? Mbappe?”

To which the reporter said, “You know him very well.”

Bellingham, finally figuring out who the answer was, smiled and said, “Erling. Ah, of course, I can’t get anything on that geezer right now, I swear to god. But yeah, sum it up.”

Despite the disappointment that Haaland had beaten him, not even the inevitable Norwegian could stop Bellingham from claiming two records.

The 19-year-old first set the record for the first England teenager to captain his side in a Champions League game.

And then, after his miracle goal, he became the first midfielder in the history of the competition to score in consecutive games as a teenager.

His latest scintillating portrayal will only increase interest in his future.

Bellingham is available for just £83million next summer if the fee is paid in full up front and he has been linked for a transfer with Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City.

However, Bellingham could probably only dream of revealing the numbers his ex-partner in crime is currently making.

The Terminator, as Haaland is affectionately known, was described as “not human” by the Copenhagen goalkeeper after scoring his 18th and 19th goals of the season.

His midweek brace followed his third hat-trick of the season in the 6-3 win over Man Utd.
