I am eight years old and I love climbing. I’ve climbed the equivalent of Mount Everest eight times

YOUNG hiker Charlie Batham poses with pride – after climbing the same height of Mount Everest eight times before turning nine.
Intrepid Charlie has summited more than 200 different peaks after contracting the climbing bug at the age of five.

The adventurer has scaled more than 232,260 feet along with his father Paul and mother Donna.
Charlie, eight, from Wakefield, West Yorks, said: “I love exploring and ticking off the peaks.
“I also love seeing all the different animals and wildlife that we wouldn’t find at home.”
Paul, 54, joked his son was “like a mountain goat”.
He added, “If there’s something to climb, he’ll climb it.”
Charlie has climbed the three highest peaks in Britain – Scafell Pike in the Lake District, Snowdown in North Wales and Ben Nevis in Scotland.
And he achieved his eighth Everest just over a week ago on Chrome Hill in the Peak District.
