I abandoned my EV after three years and went back to a gas car – a crucial flaw meant I could never even turn on my AC

A FORMER EV owner has revealed surprising details about why switched back to a petrol vehicle after owning an electric vehicle for years.

A California-based Quora user posted a question about electric vehicles on the online forum, which prompted several people who regret buying an electric car or just don’t like them for a reason to discuss why.

They said that in their experience, the most annoying aspect of electric vehicles is the mileage you can get on a single charge

The question was, “What’s the most annoying thing about owning an electric vehicle?”

A person named Feifei Wang replied that she switched to a regular Fiat 500 after driving a Fiat 500e for three years.

They said that in their experience, the most annoying aspect of electric vehicles is the mileage you can get on a single charge.

“Their radius is 40 miles,” Wang explained on the online forum.

“Living in Southern California means that wherever you go, you either plan ahead or just don’t go.”

The individual noted that electric vehicles can pose a major problem for people living in life situations where they don’t have easy access to chargers or outlets.

“It’s going to be a weekly task,” they emphasized.

“It takes three hours to fully charge an electric vehicle, which means you drive to a charging station and have to stay there for three hours.”

The user stated that they did not have regular access to a charging station for much of the time that they owned their electric vehicle.

Nor at work or at home, which usually makes it convenient for EV owners to charge their vehicles without interrupting their regular schedule.

“As a result, I have to plan three hours every weekend to charge my car at a public electric vehicle charging station,” Wang explained.

While living in LA, they drove over 40 miles to their parents’ house without air conditioning to save miles.

They explained: “Because if I turn on the air conditioning, I can’t drive back.”

That’s not even the worst, the person stressed.

“Driving an electric vehicle doesn’t really help the environment if most of the electricity comes from burning coal,” they explained.

“You’re just transferring the pollution to someone else.”

There are several reasons why Wang said they will be driving gas-powered cars for a while longer.

“I will stick with the gas car until:
1. Regular electric vehicles (not Tesla luxury vehicles) have a range of more than 200 miles per charge.
2. It takes less than 10 minutes to fully charge.
3. More EV charging stations (like every gas station would have an EV charging station).”
