AT LEAST 13 people have died after Hurricane Ian brought intense storm conditions to Florida residents, according to local reports.

A tragic death toll The Tampa Bay Times claims at least 13 deaths have been confirmed as of Thursday afternoon, but noted Florida state officials are yet to comment.

President Biden said the storm could be responsible for “a significant loss of life” as first responders work to help those affected by Ian.

That comes as more than 2.5 million Florida residents were without power Thursday after the hurricane passed through.

A severe Category 4 storm, Ian, brought winds of 150 miles per hour and a life-threatening storm surge to the Sunshine State, according to the National Hurricane Center.
