PITTSBURGH (AP) – John Hugley scored 32 points and picked up 13 rebounds and Pittsburgh posted its first Atlantic Coast Conference win of the season, holding Boston College to a 69-67 win on Wednesday. Seven.
Boston College has now lost its last 15 games away from home and hasn’t won in over a year.
Makai Ashton-Langford hit a 3-pointer with 11:15 remaining at half-time to put Boston College ahead, 15-13, and start a 12-0 game, adding a pair of free throws and a layup . Hugley put the Panthers right back on track by scoring three times in a row and adding two free throws to cut the deficit to 24-21.
Femi Odukale beat with 12:39 left in the game to give Pitt the lead, 46-44, and Hugley missed to give the Panthers an eight-point lead, but BC fought back to finish the game. with a score of 56-56 with 5:47 . Hugley took two free throws and a shot to give him a four-point lead with more than four minutes left, but Ashton-Langford’s 3 to 1:39 remaining tie tied the game at 64-64.
After two free throws from both Hugley and Jamarius Burton, the Eagles took three points from TJ Bickerstaff to win the first round, 68-67 with: 13 left, but runner Ashton-Langford at the whistle.
Hugley scored 19 points in the first half and converted 15 of 20 from the line for Pitt (6-9, 1-3), then a total of 23 of 28 shots on target. Burton finished with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists while Odukale added 11 points and 4 assists.
Ashton-Langford finished with 23 points, hitting 5/7 from the line to lead Boston College (6-7, 1-2). Jaeden Zackery added 12 points and Brevin Galloway scored 11 from the bench. The Eagles shot 14 out of 19 from the straight.
Pitt travels to Syracuse on Tuesday. Boston College hosts Georgia Technology Wednesday.
