Huge update in three sets of decomposing remains found in Lake Mead after police reveal grim new details about bodies

INVESTIGATORS have made haunting new discoveries in the case of three sets of decomposing human remains found in Lake Mead.

More gruesome details come to light when officials discovered that the second victim, whose remains were found with a gunshot wound in a barrel, died of manslaughter.

The sinking waters of Lake Mead and a mega drought have exposed three sets of remains in late stages of decomposition.

Investigators are now working feverishly to extract DNA from the remains and learn more about the haunting discoveries made in the reservoir, which stretches across Nevada and Arizona.

Despite time and evidence against her, Clark County Coroner Melanie Rouse has made some important discoveries since the first remains were found on May 1.

Officials masterfully discovered that this first victim died sometime in the mid-70s to early 80s, but that complicates things a bit.

“When you think about the age of your witnesses or others associated with this case, many of them are getting older by the day,” Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Lt. Jason Johansson told CNN.

“And they’re of an age to worry about, are they even alive?

“And so I would say that’s probably our biggest concern right now.”

To make matters worse, no DNA was discovered.

If DNA is found, it can be sent to the FBI, who will then assist in the investigation.

Despite the lack of evidence, local officials were able to determine that the second victim, uncovered on May 7, was between 23 and 37 years old, according to Rouse.

The coroner’s office, nicknamed the Hemenway Harbor Doe, determined that the barrel-bound body was murdered, although the details of her death were hazy.

“Every time you have a corpse in a barrel, clearly someone else was involved,” Johansson said.

The third set of remains is still in the early stages of investigation, Rouse said.

At the moment, the coroner’s office is only investigating the condition of the first and third sets as none of the deaths are suspected to have involved foul play.

According to NASA’s Earth Observatory, the water level in Lake Mead has reached its lowest level since April 1937, when the reservoir was first filled.

Lake Meade was only 27 percent full on July 18, 2022.

Earlier this month, a World War II ship was discovered in the lake just weeks after two skeletons were found.

The sinking waters of Lake Mead and a mega drought have unearthed several discoveries this year, with a body, according to Lt. LVMPD’s Ray Spencer has previously been linked to the Mafia.

However, Johansson told CNN that there was not a strong connection to organized crime at this point in the investigation.

According to National Geographic, the drought is the worst in 1,200 years, and this mega-drought is expected to last until at least 2030.
