Huge fire near Philadelphia airport as plume of smoke is visible on radar and stretches ten miles

A HUGE fire near Philadelphia International Airport sent a plume of smoke ten miles across New Jersey.

Smoke from the blaze, believed to be a bushfire in nearby Paulsboro, New Jersey, was even visible on radar and extended as far north as Glassboro.

CBS3 reporter Joe Holden tweeted Photos of the inferno as it spread to nearby homes.

A representative from Philadelphia International Airport, which is directly across the Delaware River from Paulsboro, told The Sun that firefighters had not issued any warnings about the smoke obstructing flights.

Paulsboro is also home to a large oil refinery, but it’s not yet known if the fire could endanger the facility.

Paulsboro Police declined to comment. The local fire department could not be reached for comment.

Twitter users began sharing images of the smoke plume around 1:10 p.m.
