The Murder of Gabby Petito: Truth, Lies and Social Media is scheduled to air December 17, via NBC’s Peacock Streaming Service.
The documentary reportedly “unravels the tragic story, unanswered questions and shocking conclusions”, with exclusive interviews from her family.
“It’s like every parent’s nightmare, like it’s just a split second,” said Jim Schmidt, Petito’s stepfather in the documentary’s trailer. “She’s gone, she’s missing.”
Her mother, Nicole Schmidt then added: “The thoughts that were going through my head were something – something really bad happened to her.”
Petito’s mother and stepfather, along with her father Joesph Petito and stepmother Tara Petito reflect on their daughter’s life by “sharing childhood memories including exclusive photos and details we never knew existed before.”
“Her bright and beautiful light touched so many people,” Tara said in the trailer.
