The pair were absent from the win at Old Trafford after they tested positive for Covid-19.

But they look ready to take on the Spanish side in the second leg of the round of 16 at the Theater of Dreams.

United announced on Monday how they were back in training and Ralf Rangnick has confirmed they are scrambling for the feature.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference, the German interim coach said: “Currently, we have all the players ready for tomorrow’s match.

“There is a small question mark behind Luke Shaw. He trained yesterday and today but we have to wait and see if he is fully fit to be ready for the pitch.

“All the other players are back in training and ready for tomorrow.”

As for Fernandes, he commented: “He tested negative [for Covid-19] yesterday and that’s why he was able to train today. “

David De Gea is sure to keep his place among the sticks as one of United’s standout players this season.

Diogo Dalot could once again knock right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka out of the starting line-up, while Shaw replaced Alex Telles on the opposite side.

And captain Harry Maguire looks set to partner Raphael Varane at the heart of defence, with Victor Lindelof having to secure a place on the bench.

Fred should have kept his place in midfield, with Scott McTominay playing alongside him having recovered from a calf injury.

Fernandes will then be placed at number 10, with Jadon Sancho and Paul Pogba on the flanks.

Cristiano Ronaldo will then be tasked with leading the squad after his hat-trick against Spurs.
