Former British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison on June 28, 2022.
She was convicted on five sex trafficking charges over the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.

Maxwell was convicted in December 2021 of sex trafficking and transporting a person under the age of 17 with intent to engage in sexual activity.
After Maxwell received her sentence, she apologized to the victims and said she empathizes with them, adding that meeting Epstein was the “biggest regret” of her life.
“My association with Epstein will permanently stain me,” she said, adding that she hoped the victims would find “peace and finality” through their prison sentences.
