JILL Biden once dressed up as the Grinch for Christmas – and now her first White House holiday decorations are being compared to the film.
But her decorations were slammed when one Twitter user commented: “Like ‘Gifts from a Little Heart’ because Biden is a Grinch!”
Another added: “BAH-HUMBUG! The theme should be from ‘Grinch Who Stole Christmas’.”
And now a 2009 photo of Jill dressed as the Grinch – the character Dr. Seuss plotting to ruin Christmas – has reappeared.
In the picture, Dr. Biden appears in Santa’s hat and coat complete with his famous green hair and mask covering his character’s face.
The photo was shared by CNN reporter Kate Bennett, who wrote: “This photo of @FLOTUS playing the Grinch in 2009 as the second lady is pretty iconic. “
One follower replied, “Also pretty ‘sarcastic’.”
Others have praised the decor as “fresh” and “elegant” and commended Dr Biden for a “tree in the house that isn’t flashy or creepy.”
A notable decoration on the tree in the State Dining Room is includes a picture of Donald and Melania Trump.
The image was taken during Trump’s time in the White House and shows the couple welcoming the arrival of the tree that year.
Online, commentators noted that the tree was “covered with framed photographs of the maidens and first families formerly at the White House during the holidays”
CNN reporter Kate Bennett added: “@FLOTUS has taken much from her personal album, which has never been seen publicly before. “
Dr. Biden also made sure to include pictures of the Obamas, Kennedys and Roosevelts.

She invited young people to the White House to read her picture book when one told her his pet had gotten stuck under the cage door.
“Oh my word. Ok, let’s move on to happier things,” replied Dr. Biden.
