In step Kepa Arrizabalagaarguably the best backup – and certainly the most expensive in the world.

Now Mendy is back in the fold as Afcon champion and Tuchel headaches choosing between the sticks.

His side take on Palmeiras in the Club World Cup final on Saturday afternoon.

Should Tuchel trust the man who has been his No. 1 so far this year? Arrizabalaga is after all the most expensive goalkeeper in the world.

Or should he throw Mendy back at the end of the field and hope he shakes off any hangovers after his Afcon celebrations?

When the couple’s stats were analyzed side-by-side, it was difficult to tell them apart.

Mendy has played 13 more games than Arrizabalaga this season, but both have kept the same percentage of clean sheets.

So far, the Senegalese goalkeeper has conceded more goals in a game than his Spaniards.

But Arrizabalaga has a better save rate than his teammates and can boast a penalty to his name.

Tuchel has often given Arrizabalaga a nod in cup games this season.

But with a trophy in hand, Mendy’s overwhelming win rate might just be enough to convince the manager to get him back in action.
