‘House of Gucci’ Performance on Co-op, Comedy and Camping – NBC10 Philadelphia

You don’t have to be a fashion geek to appreciate the movie in “House of Gucci”. In fact, most of the movie doesn’t about fashion at all. It is about the notorious Italian fashion empire and the Gucci family as it unravels.
The film is based on the book of the same name by Sarah Gay Forden and tells the true story of the power struggle that rocked the Gucci family from the 1970s to the mid-1990s. Patrizia Reggiani (Lady Gaga) had an affair. passionate but turbulent marriage to Maurizio Gucci (Adam Driver) before he divorced her. Reggiani was eventually tried and found guilty of orchestrating the murder of her ex-husband.

Audiences may be surprised to learn how much drama is going on behind the scenes in the Gucci family, Driver told NBC.
“Percentages and shares and board meetings, and contracts signed,” Driver said. “It’s really rich. I think what might be involved and what might be surprising… you get the feeling that if they had better communication this could have been avoided.”
The list of Academy Award winners and nominees starring in this film is a mile long including Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, Jared Leto, Jeremy Irons, and Al Pacino. Add to that the highly anticipated Gucci look worn by Lady Gaga and Ridley Scott’s rich directing style and you have a recipe for box office gold.
Jared Leto is barely recognizable as Paolo Gucci, Maurizio’s kind but somewhat extravagant cousin. Leto focuses on the comedy in his character, which gives the film some welcome gripping moments.

“I felt that it was important to bring in as much humor as possible,” Leto told NBC. “So we did a lot of improvisation, a lot of commercials. And that created a lot of spontaneity.”
Driver insists he and Lady Gaga also have a lot of improvisation in their scenes.
“With this cast of actors, everyone is very playful, very prepared and ready,” Driver said. “Everybody was on their feet.”
Gaga is said to have stayed on the character for nine months while working on this film. And nearly the entire cast uses their best Italian accents to present their content on the big screen.
“House of Gucci” hits theaters on November 24.
