Police have examined the dismembered body parts found split between sacks in the park.

The first body part was found Monday by gardeners who discovered the victim’s pelvis inside a plastic bag, according to a source close to the case.

The decapitated head was then found with the help of park employees.

Police have now confirmed that they have identified the victim.

The investigation was conducted by the Paris Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Paris Criminal Investigation Department.

French newspaper Le Monde reported that police were able to identify the woman from fragments of her body.

Paris prosecutors said: “The body parts found in Buttes Chaumont Park have been identified, thanks to their fingerprints, as those of a 46-year-old woman who was declared missing by her husband on February 6.

“The couple lived in Seine-Saint-Denis.

“The woman is married and of North African descent.

“An investigation into her disappearance has been launched.”

Investigators determined that the woman had been wearing blue jeans with floral decorations at the level of her right thigh.

An autopsy has been conducted and thousands of hours of CCTV footage filmed in the park are being examined for leads.

The update comes after a thorough investigation was launched after the startling discovery was made on Monday 13th February.

Buttes Chaumont Park has since been closed to the public.

Investigators continue to look for other body parts.

Located in Paris’ 19th arrondissement, the park is one of the largest green spaces in the capital and a popular destination for families and runners.

The murder investigation has resulted in a major search across the park, including a specialized dive team that searched the lake.
