A RUSSIAN missile was caught by CCTV in a split second before obliterating a Ukrainian mall.
At least 20 people were killed when the building in the city of Kremenchuk was attacked.
Horror footage shows the mall bursting into flames as debris flies into the air.
Dozens were injured and many are still missing after Monday’s attack.
Local fire chief Ivan Melechovets, who took part in the rescue operation, said in a fire of such intensity: “You have no chance of survival”.
“The hardest thing is seeing the bodies — adults, children,” he said, adding that they were still looking for 50 to 60 missing people.
It comes as other footage showed terrified families cowering in fear and fleeing after the missile struck.
CCTV footage from a park near the stripped mall shows the initial explosion, which blew debris into the pond while panicked mothers and their children looked on.
Upon impact, the camera shook as couples and families who were staying in the park near the Amstor shopping center in Kremenchug leave their belongings and run away.
A second hit then hits, turning the screen orange. The pair then crouch as the alarmed man throws himself into the pond.
He then dives into the water to avoid being injured by the flying debris.
The woman is captured running away as garbage rains around her and dark clouds form in the sky above her.
A second angle shows a frightened mother grabbing her young child as she runs toward a nearby tree.
Just before they reach the tree, another of Putin’s missiles targets citizens in the mall, killing at least 18 and injuring dozens.
This time the camera shows the explosion from afar – but still enough to startle passers-by in the park.
As the mother takes refuge under the tree, grabs her little one when a passer-by runs up to her in hysteria.
A third clip shows a lone jogger collapsing as the missile hits the water.
As he stands up, a second – clearer – explosion can be seen. This time the runner is on the ground while debris from the mall spills into the pond.
He then sits in awe of what just happened.
Additional footage shows citizens walking on the island of the pond, with some crossing the bridge.
When the terrible explosion hits, they run away from the area. Birds in panic can also be seen flying away from the scene.
You can also see small children running across the bridge with their hands over their ears because of the loud noise.
As another explosion occurs, more people – not seen in the opening scene – leave the island.
Russia today denied hitting the mall with rockets, saying it hit a nearby depot of US and European weapons and set off an explosion that started the mall fire.
The Russian Defense Ministry said in a daily statement on the war: “In Kremenchuk, Russian forces attacked a weapons depot storing weapons shipped from the United States and Europe using high-precision airborne weapons.”
“The detonation of stored ammunition for Western weapons caused a fire in a non-functioning mall next to the depot,” he added.
Maksym Musienko, 26, who was at work in an electronics store in the mall on Monday when the blast struck, said of the terrifying experience that there were about 100 customers in the store at the time.
“We worked. There were a lot of people in the store, but after that I don’t remember anything,” he says.
“The shopping center is not a dangerous place for the Russians. We thought we were far from the border,” adds Maksym
He is currently in the hospital after suffering from shrapnel wounds, concussion and multiple scratches.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the attack “one of the most daring terrorist attacks in European history”.
More than 1,000 people were in it at the time of the rocket attack, said President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
