Horror images show Russian army devastated as Ukraine claims Putin lost 9,000 soldiers, ’45 coffins sent back to one city’

RUSSIA faces huge casualties in Ukraine – Kyiv claims 9,000 of Vladimir Putin’s soldiers have already been killed in the invasion.

Shocking photos keep surfacing of the sheer devastation inflicted on Russian forces – with the charred wreckage of tanks, trucks and armored vehicles littering roadsides.

Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy praised his own people’s “heroic” resistance – as if boasting that they had “thwarted” Russia’s plan for a quick victory.

He said around 9,000 Russian soldiers had been killed since the invasion began eight days ago.

The president urged the “confused children” to go home – with videos showing very young captured Russian soldiers babbling for their mothers.

However, Moscow released its own death toll for the first time, saying it lost 498 soldiers and around 1,600 were wounded.

However, it’s hinted that the true number is likely somewhere in the middle of those two numbers – and photos show a staggering level of devastation.

Dramatic images show a convoy of Russian trucks completely blown up in Borodyanka, some 40 miles from Kyiv.

At least ten trucks and several armored vehicles can be seen in the photos.

The machines are marked with the distinctive Russian “V” symbol.

It is believed to represent invading forces that entered northeastern Ukraine from Russia.

And another picture shows a Russian tank apparently crossing a bridge when it was blown up in Mykolaiv near Kherson.

Ukrainian forces have destroyed bridges across the country to slow Russian advances.

It comes as:

Civilians also took up arms and hurled Molotov cocktails at passing Russian vehicles.

And a harrowing leaked WhatsApp voice message has provided some clues to the growing desperation of demoralized Russians.

The message was published by The Kiev Independent and has a crying wife who speaks of the fate of a Russian armored brigade.

She laments that the unit in Ukraine was “totally destroyed” – only “18 out of 150 men” managed to survive.

The woman complains that 45 coffins have already been sent to Russia’s Altai region and complains that her neighbors and friends – mostly young men – are among the dead.

She specifically mentions a military man named Evgeniy Zhilin.

This name can be found in the leaked register of 120,000 Russian soldiers allegedly involved in the invasion of Ukraine.

Russia has found that its invasion was thwarted by logistical problems – with reports of tanks running out of fuel and soldiers running out of supplies.

Putin is said to have thought he could overrun Ukraine in just 48 hours – and his troops thought they would be greeted as heroes.

But instead they are bogged down against a staunch resistance.

Putin is also becoming increasingly isolated in the world as Russia feels the crushing weight of Western sanctions.

But Moscow is believed to be growing increasingly frustrated – and its feared Putin may resort to even more brutal tactics as the war drags on.

Horror images today also showed the devastation ravaged Ukraine by Russian airstrikes, artillery shells and rockets.

More than 2,000 civilians are believed to have been killed in the attack, which turned once-busy cities into war zones.

It came as President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stood defiant and promised Vladimir Putin would pay the price for every dead Ukrainian.

Zelenskyy – a former comedian-turned-politician and hailed as a hero for his leadership during the crisis – vowed to hit back against Russia.

“We will rebuild every single house, every single street, every single town,” he said.

“And we say Russia – learn the words ‘reparations’ and ‘contributions’.

“You will pay us back in full what you have done against our state, against every single Ukrainian.”

And the conflict shows no signs of ending, despite ongoing peace talks.

Kyiv is believed to remain the Russians’ main target – with a massive convoy of armored vehicles lurking nearby, preparing for a protracted siege.

But a senior US defense official said the huge column of tanks and other vehicles appears to have stalled about 16 miles from Kyiv.

The 40-mile army appeared poised to launch an assault on the capital earlier in the week.

And now the column has made no real progress for almost 72 hours.

Elsewhere, Moscow’s troops managed to capture the important port city of Kherson after six days of fighting as their advance slogged through Ukraine.

Russia is said to have suffered heavy casualties during the battle – but the exact numbers are unknown.

And meanwhile at least 300 civilians and soldiers have been killed on the Ukrainian side in Cherson.

The city near Crimea is home to 300,000 people – and opens the way to Odessa for the Russians.

And eerie videos today showed Russian warships gathering off Crimea in the Black Sea.

It raised fears that Russia could begin its all-out attack on the coast after Kherson fell.

The Estonian cargo ship Helt was also sunk in the area, presumably having struck a mine after being threatened by Russian warships.
