A tourist has suffered serious head injuries after falling from a three-storey hotel balcony in Mallorca.

The 20-year-old Irishman was taken to Son Espases Hospital in the island’s capital after being stabilized at the scene after falling from the third floor of the four-star TRH Jardin del Mar beach hotel in Santa Ponsa.

The alarm went off just after 4.30am this morning.

Rescue workers found the injured tourist at the back of the hotel in a gap between the hotel building and a small wall.

A local report said he told emergency services he fell while being pursued, sparking unconfirmed speculation he may have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time. The Guardia Civil is investigating.

“He was taken to Son Espases Hospital in Palma.”

Police were unable to provide any official information on the holidaymaker’s nationality early this morning, but well-informed sources confirmed he is Irish.

Rescue workers stabilized him at the scene for about 25 minutes before taking him to the hospital in an ambulance.

His worried friends are said to have followed him closely in a taxi.

On May 3, a 50-year-old Irish tourist was hospitalized in a “serious” condition after falling from a second-floor flat in Santa Ponsa, a holiday resort popular with Irish holidaymakers about 15 minutes’ drive from Magaluf .

On May 12, a 34-year-old British tourist fell to his death from the seventh floor of his hotel in Magaluf.

Witnesses filmed his fall after seeing him risk his life after pacing a narrow ledge on the outside of his balcony at the four-star Melia South Beach hotel.

Police said he was drinking before the 8:30 a.m. fall, and sources said he may have been on drugs.

Later that same day, a Dutch tourist died after throwing himself off a cliff while performing a tombstone stunt in front of his partner and two children.
