Studio Guerilla Games director Jan-Bart van Beek shared about the existence of “Horizon: Call of the Mountain” on January 4 via Blog PlayStation, just weeks before the release of “Horizon: Forbidden West.” Van Beek didn’t provide a release date or launch date for “Call of the Mountain,” however, a few key details provide some potential clues as to when the game could be shut down.
In a chaperone videotapes, van Beek announced that Guerilla, in partnership with First Party PlayStation development studio Firesprite, has begun work on “Call of the Mountain.” While all teams have shifted focus to preparing for the launch of “Forbidden West”, this new experience has at least been in development at some point before that. He also revealed that the groups created special titles for PlayStation VR2, the next generation of Sony’s virtual reality system.
Sony announced the PSVR 2 during its CES 2022 conference. While it offers a pinnacle in some of the upgrades players can expect from controllers and hardware, a release date is unknown and possible. take a few more years at this early stage. As the only game announced so far for the peripheral, “Horizon: Call of the Mountain” could be one of its launch titles. So don’t expect to see it anytime soon.
