WALES were heartbroken as Memphis Depay’s last-minute goal secured a 3-2 Nations League win for the Netherlands.
Gareth Bale thought he was the savior once again as he equalized with a penalty in the 90th minute.
But after falling 2-0 to restore the equalizer, Wales’ good work was undone by Depay’s goal.
The Dutch got off to a dream start in the 17th minute as Noa Lang knotted the Welsh defense before scoring the Netherlands’ first goal with a brilliant striker.
After being sliced open, the Welsh defense suffered a bit of unlucky minutes later when the ball was kindly brought in by Conor Gakpo after his first shot was blocked.
But instead of dropping their heads, Wales responded by pulling one back in the 26th minute – Brennan Johnson shot from the post for his second goal in as many games.
And Rob Page’s men stayed late in the game when Conor Roberts was fouled in the penalty area by Tyrell Malacia, making Gareth Bale the hero again as he converted from the penalty spot.
But it wouldn’t be a happy ending as Holland reacted to win the game late through Barcelona star Depay.
