Hits Driver, Kills 2 Dogs on Busy Road in Westmoreland County – CBS Pittsburgh

GREENSBURG, Pa. (KDKA) – A Westmoreland County woman is searching for answers after her two dogs were hit and killed by a truck driver.
The woman understood it was an accident. She just didn’t know why the driver kept going.

The two dogs, Kimbra and Honey, are inseparable.

“My dogs are my family. They are my best friends,” says Krystina Habosystemck.
The dogs were in the backyard of the Habareck church but dug under the fence of the house and took off towards Otterman Street. Immediately, he began trying to find them.
“I was shouting the names of Kimba and Honey, and this guy stopped at the stop sign and said, ‘I don’t know if you know, but two dogs got hit in the street,'” Habhesia said.

According to eyewitnesses, two dogs died from their injuries when a driver of a black pickup truck rammed the dogs.
“He hit them and kept going,” Habosystem said.
When the animals were in the middle of a busy road, other motorcyclists and nearby residents did what they could to help the dogs and comfort Habosystem.
“I really appreciate the people who stopped and gave them love and recognized them as someone’s pet,” she said.
He said the truck driver must have known they had hit something.
“How do you know it’s not a child? How do you know it’s not a human? How do you not stop? “Haharon said.

Greensburg police officers assisted in helping the animals, but the department said with very little detail there was little they could do.
