‘His ego is very hurtful’

AMIR KHAN wants a rematch of Kell Brook – but even promoter Ben Shalom will try to speak to the British boxing icon.
Khan was decisively defeated in six rounds in what many assumed would end his nearly two-decade-long confrontation with Brook.

But the notoriously hard-to-find fight included a rematch clause for the loser.
And after some thought while in Dubai, it looks like Khan will exercise his right to shoot revenge.
Shalom told talkSPORT: “In the last few days I’ve been getting emails, texts, everything, Amir wants the rematch, he really wants the rematch.
“I don’t think that’s going to happen, if I’m telling the truth.

“I have yet to sit down with Amir and really understand where he is coming from, from an injury point of view, from a preparation standpoint.
“I think his ego hurts and he doesn’t want to be remembered for that fight – and I don’t think he will.
“But I think that’s the origin of it, but honestly, Amir Khan wants the rematch.”
When asked if he would try talking to Khan in a rematch, Shalom replied: “Yes. I’ll try and make sure he makes the right decision.”
Khan, 35, admitted after the one-sided loss that his best days are now apart from him with his love for the sport in question.
While for Brook, 35, he was immediately linked with domestic blockbusters against Conor Benn, 25, and Chris Eubank Jr, 32.
A rerun with Khan is out of the picture – but the former IBF welterweight champion confirmed he’s ready to come back.
Brook told Sky Sports: “If he wanted another smack he could have had another butt.
“It’s one-sided, I wonder what he could say back to the table.”
“If he wants that rematch, I’ll take off my gloves and do it again.”
