HGSS Makarska received a report about a young foreign citizen who got lost in the Biokovo area and cannot move independently. Teams from Split and Makarska went to the field and when they got there they discovered that it was in an extremely inaccessible place, the Potočine Couloir below Bukovac.

He suffered injuries and in order for the victim to safely descend to the first houses, a height difference of 550 meters had to be overcome. 15 rescuers took part in the operation tonight, and due to the dangerous conditions, part of the team slept on Biokovo, they wrote on Facebook.

Judging by the photos, the man walked in flip-flops. Additional forces are currently being sent into the field from the Makarska, Split, Dubrovnik, Orebić and Šibenik stations.

“We ask all mountain visitors to be careful, wear appropriate equipment and inform themselves about the current conditions before setting off into the mountains,” repeats the HGSS appeal.
