‘He’s almost wasted his entire career’ – Rio Ferdinand gives his honest view of the Manchester United man
Manchester United The legend of Rio Ferdinand gave an accursed verdict on Jesse Lingardthe final season could be at Old Trafford.
Before England the world talked about him Vibe with Five podcast about Lingard’s disappointing season. He say:
“I wouldn’t be happy if I were a player.”
He continued:
βIt was almost like he wasted a whole year of his career. A whole season of his career has been wasted.β
Reports have suggested that current Manchester United caretaker manager Ralf Rangnick is willing to allow Lingard to leave in the January window. But the club pulled the plug after assault allegations against winger Mason Greenwood surfaced.
Even so, Ferdinand still finds fault with not having much game time at United this season. He’s made just 14 appearances this season, most of which have been substitutes.
He also enjoyed a successful loan spell at West Ham last summer, scoring nine goals and five assists in 16 appearances. Ferdinand added:
βHe barely played any games. He went to West Ham and played brilliantly. Everyone wants to get him out of the top four.”
Lingard’s contract expires at the end of the season and that’s all but confirmation that he will be leaving his childhood club.
Which club should Manchester United’s Lingard join?
Upon completion of the contract, Jesse Lingard will be free to join any team and he has no shortage of suitors.
A return to West Ham could be the card for the 29-year-old, who made a big splash during his short-term loan spell last season.
Newcastle United are another team that is said to be very interested in Lingard and after the PIF took over, they certainly have enough funding to attract Lingard’s talent. However, his signing will depend on whether Tyneside’s outfit continues in the Premier League next season.
Frank Lampard, who was appointed Everton manager last Sunday, may be looking for a new winger.
His sights at Everton are beginning to take shape, having brought in Donny van de Beek and Dele Alli from Tottenham Hotspur in January.

Lingard’s experience and pace could be appealing to most Premier League sides, especially given that signing the English winger comes at no cost. However, it was a sad end to his Manchester United career.
