Hershey, the Washington D.C. branch of the American Hockey League, hosted the annual “Teddy Bear Toss” game Saturday at the Giant Center, and fans staged a performance.

Fans threw 52,341 stuffed animals onto the ice after the Bears’ first goal of the game from Axel Jonsson-Fjallby. Setting the impression record from the crowd resulted in a 45 minute delay due to the cleanup, according to TheAHL.com.
Fans have broken the previous record of 45,650 stuffed animals from 2019. The event was not held in 2020 or 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but toy drives are still being held for the public. copper, Hershey said.

The Bears said more than 25 organizations in the Hershey area will receive the stuffed animals. This year’s pitching game is the 20th event in the team’s history, and the club is estimated to have collected more than 300,000 stuffed animals since 2001.
