A HERO dog delivers The Sun to a loyal reader dying of terminal cancer each day.
Come rain or shine, Cockapoo Rusty makes the mile walk to the village shop to pick up the sun for 81-year-old Ray Winn.
Owner Harriet Bailey, 37, and partner Dan Glover, 42, are looking after Dan’s father-in-law Ray at their home in Storth, Cumbria.
Harriet told The Sun: “Rusty is determined to bring Ray his morning paper every day, nobody can take it from him.
“Sometimes when it rains the paper gets wet, but Rusty doesn’t give up, he’ll always complete his delivery.
“He knows it’s his job, he’s ready at the front door at 7 a.m..”
Every morning, Rusty wags his tail all the way to the village shop, where the shopkeeper outside gives him a gift of sunshine.
Harriet added: “Ray couldn’t go without reading The Sun, he’s read newspapers since the 1960s when he was a bus driver and would read it on his tea break.
“It always brightens his day, especially when it’s delivered by Rusty.”
