He was injured but was able to leave school, a police official told the Associated Press.
Border Patrol sources told Fox News’ Bill Melugin that the unidentified agent was part of an elite tactical unit.
“I’m told he entered with a tactical team while TX LEOs were busy with barricaded gunners.” wrote melugin “Agent was injured.”
“I was told that a BORTAC agent went in with his technical group with other agents. They formed a stacking maneuver while Texas law enforcement dealt with the shooter, who was barricaded,” Melugin said on Fox News on Tuesday.

“They came in from opposite sides. The BORTAC agent ended up exchanging gunfire with the gunman, killing the gunman and I am told the agent was injured in his leg. They’re trying to figure out if he was shot in the leg or hit by shrapnel.”
Police say Ramos barricaded himself in a classroom, “firing at anyone who got in his way,” killing 19 students and two teachers.
Police and others responding to Tuesday’s attack broke windows at the school to allow students and teachers to escape, Lt. Christopher Olivarez of the Texas Department of Public Safety on NBC’s Today on Wednesday.
Olivarez told CNN that all of the victims were in the same fourth-grade classroom at Robb Elementary School.
Tuesday’s attack in the heavily Latino town of Uvalde was the deadliest shooting at a US school since a gunman killed 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, in December 2012.
SCHOOL TRAGEDY
Among the victims was 10-year-old fourth grader Xavier Lopez.
His mother had seen an awards ceremony in school hours before the tragedy unfolded.
Nine-year-old Uziyah Garcia, also a fourth-grader, was also named as a victim of the shooting by his aunt Nikki Cross.
His uncle Mitch Renfro wrote on Facebook, “My nephew was the victim of a school shooting today.”
He said that Uziyah was killed by a “mad man”.
Eliahana ‘Elijah Cruz’ Torres, 10, reportedly didn’t want to go to school on Tuesday, her grandfather told Fox News.
And Jennifer and Steven Lugo revealed their daughter Ellie had died. They said she had been missing for hours.
In a heartbreaking Facebook post, Steven said: “It’s hard to make a statement on anything right now my mind is traveling at 1000mph… but I want to send our thoughts and prayers home to those who aren’t either made it tonight!!!”

Amerie Jo Garza was also killed during the killing spree.
Her grandmother, Berlinda Irene Arreola, told the Daily Beast that Ramos allegedly screamed, “You’re going to die.”
