The tourism helicopter crashed near South Point, Hawaii, around 5:30 p.m. local time Wednesday.

It is not known what caused the helicopter crash.

Cyrus Johnasen of Hawaii County said there were six people on board the helicopter at the time of the accident.

Officials said the pilot – a man, 50 – and a girl, 18, were found in serious condition and flown to the hospital, reports Hawaii News Now.

According to the Honolulu Star Advertiser, her condition appears to be getting worse.

The pilot was initially trapped in the plane before being rescued, reports WOKV.

Meanwhile, two women, 18 and 19, and a man, 23, were taken to hospital by ambulance.

The victims could not be identified as the investigation is ongoing.

Images shared on social media show the mangled wreckage of the badly damaged helicopter.

Its rotor looks twisted and the chopper doors are hanging down as it lies on the ground.

Hawaii County Mayor Mitch Roth described the situation as “fluctuating.”

The plane crashed on the southernmost tip of Hawaii’s Big Island.
